Its just come out. Me and Qwerty bought it tonight on steam, its £10 (bargain?). We played for a couple of hours.
Its hard. Much harder than DayZ I think. We both struggled to get anywhere without having agro'd zombies but after about 5 deaths each we both found ourselves guns and are starting to acomplish [sh*t] now.
The map is not as big as DayZ. However its still pretty [f*cking] huge.
Good things:
Immersion seems fairly good, possibly on a par with DayZ but with more of a focus on killing zombies instead of avoiding them (which is [f*cking] hard to do)
Movement is smooth and fluid, same engine as their previous game, movement feels very familiar and works well... unlike DayZ.
Guns seem really cool, I picked up some kind of semi auto assault rifle and a pistol, they where both easy to use (again using the old engines targeting system/crosshair etc) and where effective and easy to headshot with.
Ammo is sparce, which means you need to make your shots count.
Ambient sounds are very [f*cking] scary.
You have the option to rent a dedi server, I don't know how this works though, and don't know rules they may have implimented.
Seems they are going to be adding maps.
Scoreboard is a nice function, only shows names and whether they are a bandit or not, no confusing [sh*t] like on DayZ.
Quest system and player interaction seem fairly cool, havn't tried it yet, but you can leave notes around for people to pick up and read, and I heard something about a bounty board where people can earn money for completing quests you set
Easy to pick stuff up and manage your inventory.
Global/proximity/clan chat
Clan support.
Minimal UI
Buildings are fairly nice but not mind blowing, better than DayZ however.
Bad things:
Very hard to start off. You spawn with a torch, 1 piece of food, 1 drink and 1 bandage (to heal). Getting into a town without agroing is hard, which makes picking [sh*t] up hard.
Sounds from zombies seem a bit off, they are very loud and when following you its hard to gauge how close they are.
The amount of sound/how visable you are is poorly designed currently, little/no difference in stealth whether you crouch or walk aiming
Starting inventory space is very fooking low.
Good loot seems to be hard to come by, qwerty and I both managed to find weapons eventually, qwerty found a bigger back pack and a helmet but I had no luck with either of those.
Fall damage is stupid. You can walk down a hill, and when you hit the bottom, even if it wasn't a steep hill, you can suddenly take up to half of your health off without even falling.
Can't swim, yet there are rivers and lakes.
Shop, pay to win. Don't know if any of the things in the shop are also available in game, but you can buy a lot of [sh*t] there, and it seems like most of it requires currency you buy with real money. There is an ingame currency that youu can use to buy some items, but these things are really expensive and will take a lot of time to get. I managed to accumulate something like $150 during my time in game, the cheapest item I could see in shop for the ingame currency was around $14,000. However most of the stuff seems cosmetic, there are rather massive upgrades you can buy (NVGs/Bags/Scopes for weapons), but you can't buy any guns, which is a plus I guess.
Undecided whether this is a good or bad thing. When you die, your character is currently locked for 1 hour, you will need to make another character to continue playing, you have 5 character slots in total.

Map is very simplified. You have a map from the start, and it shows you exactly where you are, what direction you are looking, and marks all the towns.
3rd person default - I don't know if in the hardcore servers you are forced into first person (which is an option), me and qwerts were in normal mode.
Graphics are very inconsistent. For the most part, they are fairly good. However some graphics (trees) are pathetically primitive.
I only played for a couple of hours, so I'm sure there is a lot more I can add to both lists.
I will say however, that I was sceptical about this, and was going to avoid it, but for £10 you can't really say you're not getting your moneys worth. The game seems fairly fun, I enjoyed it, and so did qwerts. I havn't looked up on anything like vehicles (which qwert said was in the game) or camps, which was one of my favourite parts in DayZ, raiding other peoples camps; so I don't really know how long I will be entertained by this game, but I know I've spent a lot more money on a lot worse games (BF3

) so I'd advise giving it a go if you enjoyed DayZ even the slightest bit.
