Recommend a [Socket 775] / [1333 FSB] / [1066/800 DDR2] Mobo

[f*cking] Bollocks!

Ok, the new mobo arrived and I installed it, powered it on for the first time and I get the same [f*cking] problem (wont boot, no beeps).

The CPU/System fans are working, the LEDs at the base of the DDR slots are lit but the computer wont boot. There are 2 red LEDs on the ATI 2900XT GPU that will stay lit when there is a problem (either card or power related)...one of the LEDs (nearest the power) is staying lit, I have raised a support ticked with Sapphire as Im not sure what errors these LEDs represent. There are NO BEEPS from POST, nothing, zip, nil poi!

Either I just installed a DOA Mobo, or its not the mobo (and the Asus P5KC I just replaced is probably OK!)....its something else.

I took the graphics card out - booted - no beeps from POST
I took the memory out - booted - no beeps from POST

So, with just the SATA Drives, DVD Writer and Case Fan/Front Panel connected to the mobo it will not BEEP at me to say "where the [f*ck] is this, where the [f*ck] is that, this aint [f*cking] working..."

Could it be CPU? Does the CPU do anything during POST? or is POST processed by the onboard chipset (I'd have thought the latter).

This is getting on my tits!

when you try all this have it out of the case just in case its a grounding issue
place on news paper plug all of it in and give it a whirl

ps you wont get any beeps as theres no speaker on the board

on this strange note i took it upon myself to look at the pk peanuts board and guess what ????
that dosent have a buzzer either

as bong says mb out of case, on a piece of card or newspaper (NOT the bag or foam it was packed with, they are conductive)
install cpu
install 1 stick of ram
use onboard gfx
boot
if no boot replace ram with other stick, try again
if boot replace ram with other stick, try again
depending on results you may found the problem/eliminated the ram/not got a conclusive result
if neither booted try another psu and repeat
swap as many basic components as you can
consider the psu may be faulty and has now fried both boards
check you didn't damage the 775 socket installing the cpu
even if the board is a no poster it will still normally fire up the psu and fans and mb led's
remember only 4 components are needed for diagnostic post, psu,mb,cpu & ram

I can't recall ever seeing a dead intel cpu (except the one I hit with a hammer) and have only seen 3 dead amd cpu's in 15 years

I have read the manual ...and double checked the speaker on the CASE was correctly attached to the mobo - still no beeps. Will even pull a speaker out of a spare case I have to ensure the speaker isnt fubard.

Will take the mobo out the case as suggested and try it then.

Just tested out the case with the same results.

Will order a new PSU as I don't have a spare one with the correct connectors.

Update:

The OCZ 600W GameXStreme PSU has a 3 year Power Swap warranty so I can RMA it and get a replacement immediately....me thinks I shall look into this!

UPDATE to the UPDATE:

I have just ordered a Corsair TX650 as you have to RMA the OCZ PSUs to the Netherlands and that would cost around £30, plus some people on there (OCZ Support Forums) are still waiting for a replacement after a MONTH or RMAing it to them.

New PSU should arrive tomorrow - fingers crossed this fixes it.

did you try swapping your new rigs psu to the old system to verifie that it is indeed the psu crapping out

or the other way is using the old psu and your new one in tandem (or another 350watt psu )one powers the board ie the suspect defective psu and one powers the card vice versa

this was my old method of trouble shooting till i found were id hidden the voltmeter

No, I cannot be arsed stripping it from my main working PC, I'd rather fork out for a new one.

Having read the OCZ forums, seems a lot of people have similar problems...new mobos not booting with OCZ PSU's.....hence I went with a Corsair one this time.

Should arrive tomorrow, so I'll either have the problem sorted or a cool looking paper weight. If it isnt the PSU, i will nip down to the local shop and get the a single stick of cheap DDR2 ram to eliminate the RAM....though the mobo doesnt seem to be POSTING as it isnt beeping when NO RAM IS PRESENT - I'd expect a memory fault beep.

I've just repaired a machine where a dead stick of ddr2 stopped it posting, no beeps so 1st thought was dead mb or psu, psu tester best bit of kit I've ever bought, transplanted all to spare board still no beep, that's why we test ram 1 stick at a time cos 2 dead sticks is very unusual.
