I had something similar with Mafia II mate, you can repair the installation via Steam by checking the integrity of the game cache.

Its good

I just bought a high end PC and cant get over 60 fps (on high graphics tho) which I think is a bit [sh*t], the lag and stuttering issues have been fixed (for me anyway). Dont like the snipers at all, they ported them out of MW2 and they were terrible there too, but the weapons on the whole feel nice, using AK47 + 74u and they perform well and feel balanced. Most of the maps are pretty nice, and the killstreak rewards are better now you dont /slashwrists because some camper has 25 kills and is gona nuke you.
Auto knife still there, which is [f*cking] [sh*t] because no matter how better you are than the shitter running around the corner (normally godzy), he will always aimbot stab you before you can get anything.
Claymores are still the [f*cking] bane of my life. A lot of hardcore servers (which I hate with a passion...but have to play on for the feckin contracts) have tk on, which is stupid as you have no radar and know as soon as you see someone you have to start spraying otherwise he will breath on you and you will die.

The contract system is rly cool. The emblem design feature is funny (some hillarious emblems) and the wager match, which I only did once, was fun.

From what I've read, the competitive community is interested in the game, and it seems like they will go away from SD in favour of CTF/Demolition which is both good and sad.

Single player has been pretty epic so far, and the zombie mode is fun.

But overall, I've enjoyed it quite a bit, a lot more than MW2. Its the first Treyarch CoD I've enjoyed and also a sign that they are still quite interested in the PC community with MOD tools on the way, console commands, config tweaking, CoDTV a possibility, Dedi Servers and a lot of other features which the PC community asked for/wanted and got.

I think the problem you sissies have is that your opinioin of cod was ruined by MW2/WaW, both of which were basically pissing on our faces. The thing with CoD is that with each new game, the old developers get time to think, evaluate and plan. Even though it seems like there is a new CoD every 5 minutes, its only every other CoD which shows progress. Because 2 developers are doing it, they learn from their mistakes in 1 game and impliment it 2 games later, along with being able to see what the next guys [f*cked] up.

Treyarch have looked at a [sh*t] load of the mistakes IW made (no dedi servers, browser, IW.net, balance, KS rewards etc etc) and fixed them.

So in short, don't judge a book by a different author by its predesesser, because its a completley different story. This game is a much bigger step in the right direction that the CoD series needs to be in than you can imagine, all we need now is for them to take all the good bits from all the CoDs and the game will be epic, and I'm sure of that.

The whole Console port blah blah blah thing is a bit old now. Its going to happen, and its going to happen in most cases. There is very little money in PC gaming when you compare it to console gaming, and even less money in meeting needs of clans/teams when you consider the vermin swarm that is the casual gamer. It's completley natural for developers to gear their games towards these people because that is where they will make the headlines and bring in all the $$$$. Its something we need to accept, and adapt to. When things like MOD tools are released, possibilities are endless and that is where we are lucky that we are PC gamers rather than 12 year olds on an Xbox. We get mods to make the game to our liking, enhance the gameplay, change the game completley or bring out its competitivness, whereas the afore mentioned 12 year olds are stuck playing stock, like it or not.

tl;dr version :

Play it with an open mind (without presumtions or already thinking of it negitivly) and you will enjoy it, its that simple. If you don't there is really something wrong.... or you just have a PC that can't handle it :p
