22ndSAS PC Gaming Clan

My 1st was the Binatone (or something very similar), then an Amiga 500 (truly the golden era of gaming), then a 386 PC...and many variants to present day.

Used the Amiga 1200 until I bought a Pentium II pc.
I had a 1GB 3.5" HHD build inside it and had a 2 speed cd-rom drive outside with the flatcable through my selfmade hole in the side

[yorkshire accent] 386 & PII, [f*cking] luxury, we had to make do with 8088 @ 9mhz, 512kb ram, 10mb RLL 8bit hardcard and mda display, bytes & hertz meaning somthing in those days, if you was really lucky you had twin 5 1/4 floppys [/yorkshire accent]

Sometime between 1980 and 1992, not necessarily in order, I've owned:-
ZX80
ZX81 + wobbly 16k rampack (held steady with bluetack)
ZX Spectrum 48k interface 1 & 2 + twin microdrives (originally purchased for Manic Miner)
2nd ZX Spectrum 48k for girlfriend (later to become wife, it's important to find a girl who shares your interests)
Amstrad CPC6128 (internal 3" floppy) + external 5 1/4" floppy & CP/M OS
Atari 800XL + external 5 1/4" floppy
PC Clone (8088, 512k, 10mb RLL, MDA, later upgraded to CGA) statred with MSDOS3.???
Atari 520STFM (upgraded to 2.5mb) + external floppy (for backing up games) ;)
IBM PCAT (80286 12mhz, 1mb, 20mb HDD, CGA) MSDOS3.? and later 5.? (aquired fre from work as obselete when we got 386's)
Amiga 500+ 1mb + external floppy (for backing up games) ;)
PC Clone (80386SX25, 2mb, 40mb HDD, VGA, later upgraded to SVGA) MSDOS5.? & Windows3.0 (purchased to play Doom)
I haven't bought a complete system since, just upgraded it as necessary, what's known as a Trigger's Broom PC
later purchases as curio's include an Oric-1, Acorn Atom & Jupiter Ace

The Amiga 500 was an amazing machine! I remember my brother buying and selling them used earning him about 100£ a piece (!) Kept all the game floppys (around 6000) so there were alot to choose from. Top that with a bitchin' MIDI interface and Soundtracker and you were ready to entertain your socks off!

AND of course the first digital hi-res porn - aaah sweet memories

That was one of the best bits about trading in Amigas, my games collection was through the roof.

LOL manic Miner what a classic. i remember when i got posh and got myself a BBC computer about 1984 i think to play a flight sim. the graphics where great the skyline was a green line and the runway green dots wow they where the days.

Two of my favourites were Chuckie Egg and Jet Set Willy. Also of note were the KickStart games.

Now talking of Kick Start what a cool program for the telly that was, who watched it then nearly killed themselfs trying to do the same on their chopper.

Defender for the ZX81 was my introduction to gaming

Kickstart was great , at the time I was riding in competitive trials myself (albeit at clubman level) on a Bultaco 250, and yes I have ridden over a VW Beetle because you just had to try it
