I can get away with any kind of colour curtains :p :D

Anyways I got the chance to test my gpu in another system this weekend, still no signal.
It'll take up to 2 weeks for all the components for a new rig to arrive, so I ordered a budget card (AMD 6790, still better then my broken NVIDIA 8800).
Which means I'll be back online in 2-3 days time (hopefully :) ).

built-in my new graphics card this morning, and wouldn't you just know it... still same problem.

I feel like taking a sledge hammer and go wild on the damn thing.

Have you tried booting with 1 RAM stick, and testing with each one to make sure it isnt dodgy RAM?

Otherwise its looking like your mobo. :(

I've tried booting with a different hdd with no difference so that's not the problem.

I've tried 2 different sticks of RAM in multible slots with no change.

Thing I don't get is that my old graphics card gave the same problem in another system, letting me believe that it was the broken component.
2 broken hardware components at the same time... hard to believe.

Yeah, but pink curtains can do that

No, it is a wierd one, maybe your mobo has a fault and is killing your graphics card making you think it is GPU related, try your new card in another PC to confirm it is working and not DOA.

I'm 99% sure that the graphics card is working.

Any suggestions on a socket 775, ddr2 mobo? preferably one available. :)

a new mobo won't be a problem but waiting for the thermal paste, which comes with the new rig components in at least 14 days, is. :~

Murphy's Law... :puke:
