So yeah...

I've bought a few games form Steam this sale, and I have to say, none of them have been bad at all, in fact, all of the games I've bought I've thoroughly enjoyed.

So far all of the games I bought have been indie games (small production companies of 1-10 people). They're all fairly big names, and have created pretty big waves on all platforms.

Couple of reviews;

Super Meat Boy

I have been umming and ahhing over buying this for quite a while, I've seen a few people playing it on twitch.tv and have watched "Indie Game" the documentary movie which followed a few indie game groups and showed them developing and launching their games, Super Meat Boy was one of these games, made completley by 2 people.

Its a flat out puzzle game, you play a boy with no skin in the shape of a square, trying to get his girlfriend back who has been stolen by the evil Dr. Foetus (lol)

Its a very out there game, pushes a lot of boundaries, but its heart is in the content. There are a tonne of levels, your objective is to reach the girlfriend on each one, at which point Dr. Foetus will jump in and steal her again.

Its a run and jump platformer, but it is very inginuative in many ways, no repetition, each level is unique in almost every way, and as you progress, it starts getting [f*cking] difficult. Each sub zone is finished with a boss fight, which are all (so far for me anyway) different, ranging from chase scenarios to avoiding the boss at all costs and even in one, escaping a collapsing building WITH the boss.

£5.99 at the moment. Great buy, well worth the money.

Awesomenaughts

This is a League of Legends type game, however it is set in 2D and uses a platformer kind of style. Its a multiplayer only game, basically you choose a hero which each have unique skills, upgrades, animations and voicings, some of which have been voiced by YouTube celebrities (Totalbiscuit, Yogscast and some others), and you have to reach and destroy the other teams base.

The easiest way to describe it is a cross between LoL and Street Fighter.

If you're into MOBAs then this is well worth a bit of money, if not, maybe avoid, however I think it would still be fun for a MOBA beginner, its pretty noob friendly.

£3.49

Little Inferno

This took me completely off guard.

Little Inferno is about the simplest game I have ever played. All you have to do is burn [sh*t] in a fire, which you stare at for 2 and 3/4 hours of a 3 hour playthrough (if you kind of rush it like I did). The backstory is weird. You live in a house on your own, you are a child, your city is covered in snow, and it has been snowing non stop for years (appocolypse kinda thing), no one goes out. You bought this fire toy (and it is a toy) to pass the time and help you keep warm while the weather outside continues to get colder and colder, the whole purpose of this toy fire is to burn all your possessions and things you buy off this catalogue. While your burning [sh*t], you get letters from the weather man telling you things are getting worse, the inventor of this toy, and a young woman who moves in next door and also bought a toy fire.

There are some side objectives like creating combos of burning things which gives rewards, and are required to some extent for progression, but this is really a side objective. The main point of the game is to experience the story line which is delivered in the form of these letters, say once every 5 mins or so.

I'm not going to ruin the story line for anyone that does actually go on to buy this, but I will say its [f*cking] deep and emotional, I was actually welling up at one point, and I [f*cking] never cry, not even when my family dog which we had had 20 years died, just to give you a reference :p

The music in the game really adds to the atmosphere, if not makes it completely. If you've ever seen UP... you know what I'm talking about.

Its really not my kind of game, the reason I bought it was because I watched the Yogscast playing it for 5 mins and thought it might be fun, on top of that I had also seen it made quite a few lists of top games of 2012.

Its £7.99 at moment. DEFINITELY worth picking up; I'd say it was one of the best games I have EVER bought.
