Hey Hans!

Its running like a dream...
...or it was until my little accident... :bad:

Some of you may remember that when I built my AMD4000 rig, which was the dogs bollocks at the time at least for a whole week till the dual cores came out, I managed to drop the friggin chip during assembly and had to spend 3 hours with tweezers straightening the pins and cleaning AS5 off them...
(All that practise with the tweezers and magnifier came in useful)
Good job done cause its still running now :good:

Well the new case has USB audio SATA I/Os on the top front edge...
but when sitting on the floor the case is just a little too low for my knackered old back to be arsed with...
So I had this plastic storage box with a smilar length and x2 the width to the case that brought it up to the exact height of the PC desk. (about 12 inches/30cm)

All was well until the day the Mrs insisted it was the PC rooms turn for a spring clean...I tried to tell her I had done it in Nov when I built the bloody thing, and it wasnt the Room or the PCs Birthday so there was no need, but I wanted to watch football later that day so I was [f*cked]...any argurment would turn out badly...

It take a special sort of stupid [muff] to knock a brand new £1600 pc off the 12 inch high box its sitting on...
It take a bigger one to just power it back up and sigh a relief when it boots...
...only for it to shut down 1 min later...
...and then shut down 20 secs after next boot...
and then not boot at all...

Opened case to find the PC fan taking a tour of the inside of the case, swinging from the FAN header...

Took a chance at just reseating it cos I didnt have any thermal paste, result was a very poor mate with the cpu and it idling at about 65C...

Managed to get some acetone for cleaning and some of this diamond stuff because it was
  1. Cheap
  2. In Stock
Its now back to idling in the low 40s and only getting into the 60s under heavy load....

Far Cry still looks and runs amazing though!
End of adventure, just hope I didnt do any long term damage... :(

I've heard Hanzy talk!
